Bhubaneswar: With Kartik Purnima around the corner, culture-centric television channel, Epic recently aired a preview of its Tyohaar ki Thaali show where telly actor Sakshi Tanwar is seen preparing the quintessential Odia delicacy Habisa Dalma.

While the video gained many views and reactions, the Odia netizens on Facebook had mixed reactions. Many of them appreciated the effort of presenting a part of the Odia culture while others were of the opinion that the recipe showcased deviated from the original and conventional procedure.

Besides being suggestive, several others welcomed and applauded the efforts of the Epic Channel for airing Odisha's very authentic cuisine on national television.

Known to be one of the most auspicious months in the Odia calender, the month of Kartik, is when Odias give up on non-vegetarian food. Habisa Dalma is a major dish that complements the complete vegetarian meal that Odias partake during the Panchaka period of this month. The five-day Panchaka is the time when most devotees observe Habisa i.e., eat once a day.
