Kunduli victim's suicide: Case filed against Odisha CM

Puri: Amidst protests by social activists and opposition parties Congress and BJP over death of Kunduli gangrape victim in Odisha, a case has been filed against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for police inaction.

The case was filed at sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) court in Puri on Tuesday by Sachetan Nagarik Manch's Convener Priyadarshan Pattnaik alleging the CM responsible for death of the tribal minor girl.

Pattnaik alleged that the minor girl gangrape victim ended her life out of mental trauma as the Home department headed by CM Patnaik failed to provide her justice.

The case has been lodged against the CM under sections 302, 306, 376, 506 and 120B of IPC, Pattnaik said.

Notably, Kunduli victim, who was allegedly gangraped by security personnel in October last year, took extreme step by committing suicide after failing to get justice. She was found hung at her room on January 22. Following the incident, the the State witnessed huge outrage by social activists and opposition parties demanding justice for the victim.
