PESB recommends Dr. Panda for top post

Bhubaneswar: Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (MD) of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), following a recommendation by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) after a selection meeting held on Saturday.

Three decades of experience in SAIL

A seasoned finance professional, Dr. Panda brings over 30 years of experience across various plants and units of SAIL. His expertise spans financial accounting, budgeting, taxation, treasury operations, and strategic management.

Currently serving as Director (Finance)

Dr. Panda is currently serving as Director (Finance) at SAIL and holds additional charge of Director (Commercial) since April 2025, playing a key role in the company’s financial and commercial strategy.

Key role in strengthening financial health

He has been instrumental in initiatives such as deleveraging, cost optimisation, tax planning, digital invoicing, and policy reforms, significantly strengthening SAIL’s financial position and operational efficiency.

Strong academic and professional credentials

Dr. Panda began his career with SAIL in 1992 as a Management Trainee. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering, a PGDM in Finance from XIM Bhubaneswar, and a Ph.D. in Business Finance.

Recognised for excellence and leadership

He has received several accolades, including the Jawahar Award for Excellence in Cost Management, and has contributed across domains such as mining, plant operations, and project management, alongside his finance leadership.
