Bhubaneswar: Sunita Behera, Chairperson of Balasore Sadar Block, has resigned from the primary membership of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
In a resignation letter addressed to BJD president Naveen Patnaik, Behera said she had taken the decision due to personal reasons and circumstances.
Behera stated that she had been associated with the party for many years and had worked as a disciplined member to strengthen the organisation while serving the people of the Balasore Sadar block. However, she said certain personal factors forced her to take the difficult decision to leave the party.
She described her long association with the BJD as a memorable journey and expressed gratitude to the state leadership, her colleagues and party workers in Balasore district for the support, respect and opportunities she received during her tenure.
Her resignation comes a day after former Balasore Lok Sabha MP Rabindra Kumar Jena also stepped down from the primary membership of the Biju Janata Dal.
Jena, in his resignation letter to Patnaik, had also cited personal reasons and circumstances for leaving the party.
