Digapahandi: The Excise Department has seized a large quantity of ganja and arrested a college student near the Agriculture Office in Digapahandi of Odisha's Ganjam district.

According to reports, ganja was being transported on a motorcycle when the Excise officials intercepted the vehicle. During the operation, officials recovered a significant quantity of ganja.

The arrested youth has been identified as 19-year-old Binaya Raita of Halapanka village under Mohana police limits in Gajapati district.

Reports said drug traffickers are using a new method to transport ganja by luring innocent college students with money and using them as carriers.

Local intellectuals and residents have demanded that the Excise Department should not limit the investigation to the arrest of the student. They urged the authorities to identify and arrest the masterminds behind the illegal ganja trade, who are allegedly exploiting young students for trafficking.
