Cuttack: A team from the Cuttack Municipal Corporation’s Health Department conducted an inspection at the KFC outlet in Badambadi area following concerns related to food safety and hygiene.
During the inspection, the team reportedly detected several irregularities at the outlet.
According to the inspection team, discrepancies were noticed in areas including food billing and the system used for preserving food items. The team also examined whether proper hygienic practices were being maintained at the outlet.
Officials further checked records related to food waste to ascertain whether the outlet was maintaining a daily record of food items that were discarded after becoming unfit for consumption.
As part of the inspection, samples of various food items prepared and served at the KFC outlet were collected. Samples of the cooking oil being used at the outlet were also taken for laboratory testing. The collected samples are expected to be sent for examination to determine their quality and safety.
The health team also seized certain documents related to the outlet’s licence and other regulatory requirements for further verification.
The inspection comes at a time when the health authorities in Odisha are intensifying checks on food adulteration, particularly following recent investigations into adulterated paneer, chhena and sweets.
With food safety inspections being stepped up across the state, the inspection of a well-known food chain such as KFC has drawn considerable attention. The test results of the collected food and oil samples are expected to provide further clarity on the quality and safety standards being followed at the outlet.
