Bhubaneswar: Another cyclonic storm is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours, following Cyclone Arnab, as a depression formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal on Saturday.
According to weather scientists, a well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Andaman Sea intensified into a depression on October 31, 2026.
The system is very likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours. It is expected to move west-northwestwards and reach the west-central Bay of Bengal, near the Andhra Pradesh coast, by the evening of November 2.
The developing weather system is likely to trigger heavy rainfall across parts of Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Odisha over the coming days.
Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on November 2, while very heavy rainfall is forecast at isolated places on November 3.
Rayalaseema is also likely to receive isolated very heavy rainfall on November 2 and 3.
In Odisha, isolated very heavy rainfall is likely on November 3 and 4, 2026, under the influence of the system.
The system's further intensification and movement will be closely monitored as it approaches the west-central Bay of Bengal.
