Bhubaneswar: All schools and Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in Odisha’s Kalahandi district will remain closed on September 11 (Friday) in view of heavy rainfall alert by the IMD.

The Collector and District Magistrate of Kalahandi issued an order in this regard on Thursday.

As per the order, all government, government-aided and private educational institutions including elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools as well as OAVs, KVs, EMRS and AWCs of Kalahandi will remain closed on September 11.

Keeping in view the safety and security of students, the district administration has announced the closure of schools and AWCs in Kalahandi on Friday, said the order.

“However, the teachers and staff may attend their normal school duty and complete the pending works of the institutions,” added the order.

As per the IMD forecast, some places in Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Kandhamal may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 11.

Similarly, heavy rainfall may lash several places across Nuapada, Balangir, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam districts on the day.
