Jagatsinghpur: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly hacked his nephew to death at Jahanpur village under Jagatsinghpur police limits on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Raja Das, 21, of Bhoi Sahi. 

According to preliminary reports, the accused, Sanjay Das (around 45 years old), attacked his nephew with a sharp weapon for reasons yet to be ascertained.

Following the brutal act, enraged locals apprehended Sanjay, thrashed him, and tied him to a tree.

Upon receiving the information, Jagatsinghpur police rushed to the spot, rescued the accused from the mob, and took him into custody. He was later admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.

The police have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. An investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the murder.
