Bhubaneswar: Meenakshi Bahinipati, the wife of Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, has been appointed as the president of the women wing of Congress party in Odisha.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved a proposal for the appointment of Meenakshi Bahinipati as the chief of Mahila Congress in Odisha, said press release issued by party today.

Tara Prasad Bahinipati is a senior leader of the Congress party in Odisha. He was elected to the Odisha Assembly for the fifth time in 2024. Tara Prasad has been appointed as a vice president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) recently. Meenakshi Bahinipati had earlier worked as the president of Koraput District Congress Committee (DCC).
