Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested the owner of a night club on charges of molesting a woman DJ in a hotel in the Odisha capital here yesterday.

The cops also arrested two aides of the night club owner for abetting the crime.

The arrested have been identified as Raghunath Sahu (30), the owner of Club Leo at Raghunathpur, and his associates Anand Sethi (27) and Sweta Salony (21).

The Nandankanan police have registered a case against Sahu and his two aides under Sections 64(2)(f), 62, 109(1), 3(5) of the BNS on the basis of the complaint lodged by victim Heena Shaikh.

As per the complaint, the authorities of the night club had booked Heena, who works as the HR Manager of corporate house in Mumbai, for a DJing event on July 11 (yesterday).

The woman DJ had reached the capital city from Mumbai in a flight and performed at the night club. The club authorities had booked a room for her in Hotel Purple Leaf at Raghunathpur.

They allegedly booked another room in the same hotel for Sahu. Soon after reaching the hotel, the woman DJ was invited to have a dinner with Sahu.

According to the victim, Sahu, his two aides and some others were consuming liquor and smoking when she entered into the night club owner’s room for dinner.

Sahu’s aides allegedly stopped her and asked her to spend a night with Sahu when she tried to come out of the room. They also threatened to kill her if she rejects the proposal.

Sahu allegedly molested the woman DJ when she tried to escape. His aides also tried to kill the victim by strangling her.

The woman GJ, however, managed to escape and contacted the emergency helpline. She later informed the incident to police.

The police arrested the night club owner and his two aides after launching a probe into the incident. The arrested persons have confessed to the crime during the interrogation, said Nandankanan police.
