Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday unearthed two multi-storeyed buildings, seven high-value plots in Bhubaneswar and cash during searches on properties linked to Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer Prasanna Samantray, who is currently serving as Tahasildar of Kantapara in Cuttack district.
According to Vigilance sources, the searches have so far revealed significant assets in the name of Samantray and his family members. The searches were conducted on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Among the properties detected is a triple-storeyed building at Keshura in Bhubaneswar. Another triple-storeyed building is under construction in the same locality.
The Vigilance teams have also identified seven high-value plots in Bhubaneswar city linked to the officer.
The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently conducting measurements and valuation of the buildings and plots to assess their market value.
During the searches, the officials also recovered cash amounting to Rs 2,15,890.
In addition, the officials found one four-wheeler, a Maruti Brezza, and three two-wheelers linked to the officer. Details regarding bank deposits, postal savings and other investments are being verified.
Samantray had joined government service on January 21, 2000, as a Local Fund Auditor with an initial salary of Rs 5,130. The investigation is continuing, and further details are awaited.
