Bhubaneswar: Veteran Odia film producer, industrialist and noted social worker Rabi Swain passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 75. He breathed his last at around 6 am while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He had been suffering from liver cirrhosis.
Swain, a prominent figure from Pipili, was widely known for his contribution to the Odia film industry. He had produced several popular films, including Jor Jar Mulak Tar directed by Raju Mishra, Ki Heba Sua Posile directed by Basant Sahu, and Panjuri Bhitare Sari and Udandi Sita directed by Avtar Singh. These films had received significant appreciation across the state.
Apart from his work in cinema, Swain was also an entrepreneur and educationist. He founded several institutions, including Kshetramohan Memorial Trust, Om Shanti College of Science and Technology, Kshetramohan ITC, and Daitari ITC, contributing to education and skill development in the region.
