Bhubaneswar: Odisha has emerged as a pioneer in India's quest for sustainable energy solutions, becoming the first state to announce a Green Hydrogen Policy. This landmark initiative underscores the state's commitment to industrial decarbonisation and creating a circular economy, aligning with the broader objectives of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). 

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo with the members of CII and other stakeholders of Renewable Energy.

Deputy CM Singh Deo said the policy is set to drive significant investments in renewable energy (RE), with a focus on green hydrogen production, positioning Odisha as a hub for clean energy innovation. Odisha is focusing more on disaster-resilient infrastructure, distribution sector reforms, and investment in projects like floating solar and Pumped Storage Projects (PSP), integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

The Confederation of Indian Industry, praised Odisha’s progressive leadership in renewable energy. The state’s proactive stance is expected to capture carbon opportunities from flue gases, contributing to a cleaner industrial footprint. particularly noting the state’s Renewable Energy Policy 2022. 

The meeting was attended by ACS, Energy, Vishal Kumar Dev; CMD, OPTCL, Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, senior officers from Energy department, OPTCL, GRIDCO, TPCODL, CII etc.
