Bhubaneswar: In a key decision, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday approved an additional ₹100.83 crore for various development projects being implemented in Puri under the ABADHA (Augmentation Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) scheme.
With the additional allocation, the total cost of the projects has increased from the initially sanctioned ₹557.19 crore to ₹658.03 crore.
The funds will be utilised for the development of the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre (JBPC), Market Complex, Sri Setu and expansion of the Musa River, among other works.
The Chief Minister said there would be no shortage of funds for the development of Puri and that the government would provide whatever amount is required for the projects.
The need for additional funding arose after more construction works were added to the projects. A decision has been taken to construct a multi-purpose hall with a seating capacity of 2,000 on the fifth floor of the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre.
The projects are aimed at strengthening infrastructure and providing improved amenities for pilgrims and visitors to Puri.
The ABADHA scheme is a flagship initiative of the Odisha government aimed at transforming Puri into a world-class heritage and pilgrim city.
