Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) has threatened to boycott work from July 1 to protest against the state government’s alleged failure to fulfill its 10-point charter of demands.
The doctors’ association also threatened to opt for mass resignation over the issue.
The doctors affiliated to OMSA had earlier urged the state government to fulfill their 10-point charter of demands including cadre reconstitution, abolition of Level 15 Pay Scale, transparent transfer policy, incentives for dentists, health insurance and proper security at hospitals, said association president Kishore Chandra Mishra.
“We have raised our demands with the state government several times. But, the authorities are yet to fulfill our demands despite repeated assurance in this regard. The OMSA has decided to launch a work boycott agitation from July 1 to protest against the state government’s failure to fulfill our demands,” Mishra added.
As per the decision, the doctors at all government hospitals across Odisha will boycott work from July 1, said OMSA general secretary Sanjib Kumar Pradhan.
According to the OMSA, the police are yet to take appropriate action in connection with the alleged attack on a doctor at Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) a few days ago. “Members of the association will boycott work for an hour at the outpatient departments (OPDs) in government hospitals on June 24 to protest against the incident,” said OMSA.
