Bhubaneswar: Following directions from Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, the ongoing special road safety drive has been extended till April 10.
The statewide drive, which began on March 21, aims to reduce road accidents through a combination of awareness campaigns and strict enforcement measures.
Authorities are continuing road safety awareness programmes across the state to educate commuters and promote responsible driving practices. At the same time, enforcement against traffic rule violators has been intensified to curb reckless driving.
Official sources said checks on vehicles lacking valid Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) will be intensified. While enforcement of PUCC norms had been relaxed until April 1, authorities will resume strict checks from April 2 along with other provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
