Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has assigned the recruitment process for 7,664 posts in the police department to the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC), according to a letter issued by the Home Department.

As per the letter addressed to the Secretary of OUSSSC, the vacancies include 300 Constable (Communication) posts, 2,212 OISF Constable posts, 4,219 Civil Constable posts and 933 Sub-Inspector (SI) and equivalent rank posts.

The letter also clarified that recruitment for SI and equivalent posts had earlier been entrusted to the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB). However, the process could not be completed due to various reasons. The government has now decided that OUSSSC will conduct the SI recruitment as well.

Importantly, candidates who had already applied earlier for the SI recruitment and were found eligible will be allowed to participate in the fresh recruitment process conducted by OUSSSC.

The government has further instructed OPRB to hand over all applications, records and related data of applicants to OUSSSC for smooth and prompt completion of the recruitment exercise.
