Bhubaneswar: Some outsiders allegedly opened fire on the students on the campus of a private engineering college at Odisha’s Dhenkanal town following a clash today.

The police have registered a case in this regard and launched a probe. The incident has raised concern over the safety of students at the engineering college.

As per reports, the outsiders clashed with a group of students over some issue on the premises of Synergy Institute of Engineering and Technology at Dhenkanal in the afternoon.

The outsiders reportedly opened fire on the students to terrorize them. On being informed, Dhenkanal Town police reached the college and launched an investigation. However, no blank cartridge was recovered from the spot.   

It is worth mentioning here that two groups had clashed on the college campus over an alleged love affair some days ago.     

It is suspected that the Saturday’s firing incident could be the fallout of the previous incident of violence on the college campus.
