Phulbani: An Assistant Section Officer (ASO) of the Odisha Secretariat, who had gone missing after falling into a waterfall, was found dead on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Swadhin Biswal, a native of Sambalpur.

According to reports, Biswal had visited the Putudi waterfall in Kandhamal district on Sunday along with his colleagues. While taking bath, he accidentally slipped and fell into the water.

Despite frantic efforts by his colleagues to locate him, he remained untraceable. The incident was then reported to local police.

Personnel from the police, ODRAF, and Fire Services launched a search operation soon after. However, no trace of him was found on Sunday.

The search resumed on Monday morning, and the Fire Services personnel, along with police, recovered Biswal’s body from the Salunki River.

The body has been sent to the District Headquarters Hospital for a post-mortem. After the autopsy, the body will be handed over to the family.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
