The state PSU has also set a target to achieve sales revenue worth Rs 30,000 crore in this fiscal. This was revealed during a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today.

The meeting held discussions on various measures to raise the production of minerals in the state. It also put emphasis on raising the production of bauxite in Odisha.

“The state PSU has set a target to produce 3.6 million tonnes of bauxite in 2025-26 fiscal. It will take the necessary steps to produce 6 million tonnes of bauxite in the next financial year,” said the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in a statement.

Besides, the meeting deliberated on a proposal to set up a pellet plant by the OMC. The authorities have engaged a Government of India agency to prepare a techno-economic feasibility report in this regard.

Similarly, a special committee has been formed for execution of the pellet project by May, 2026, added the CMO.

The Chief Minister put emphasis on additional measures by the OMC to create employment opportunities for the residents of mineral-bearing areas and raise their living standard.

“We can achieve the twin objectives by converging all the existing schemes introduced for the mineral-bearing areas of the state,” said the Chief Minister.

As per a decision taken at the meeting, the OMC will devise a special strategy for the development of mineral-bearing areas.

Among others, Additional Chief Secretary (Steel & Mines) Surendra Kumar, Principal Secretary to CM Saswat Mishra and senior officials of the OMC were present at the meeting.
