Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) examination will be conducted as scheduled despite the ongoing flood situation in several parts of the state, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari clarified on Friday.
The minister said postponing the examination could delay the entire recruitment process by nearly six months. Considering this, the government has decided to go ahead with the examination as planned.
However, the state government will make special arrangements to ensure that candidates from flood-affected areas can reach their respective examination centres without difficulty.
Government to arrange transportation
According to the minister, around 325 candidates from Ganjam district and nearly 100 candidates from other flood-affected areas are expected to appear for the examination.
The government will take responsibility for arranging their transportation to the examination centres, Pujari said.
He assured that necessary arrangements would be made to ensure that candidates affected by the floods do not miss the examination due to transportation difficulties.
The decision comes amid flood conditions in several parts of Odisha, particularly in Ganjam district, where heavy rainfall has disrupted normal life and affected road connectivity.
