Keonjhar: In a distressing incident, a patient had to be carried nearly five kilometres on a stretcher to reach an ambulance due to lack of motorable road in a village in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, which is also the home district of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

As per reports, the incident occurred in Junapasi village under Hadagarh panchayat of Anandpur sub-division. Pancha Jhampua of the locality fell seriously ill, prompting his family members to call for an ambulance.

However, the ambulance could not reach the village due to the absence of motorable road. It was forced to stop around five kilometres away. With no other option, family members, along with ambulance staff, carried the patient on a stretcher across the difficult terrain for the entire distance.

After being brought to the ambulance, the patient was taken to Anandpur Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
