Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of the President of India’s Police Colour on the Odisha Police, recognising the force’s distinguished service and excellence.

The decision was communicated by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Odisha Chief Secretary through an official letter.

The President’s Police Colour, also known as 'Nishaan', is the highest honour awarded to a police force in the country. It is granted in recognition of exceptional performance in areas such as crime prevention, maintenance of law and order, disaster response, and administrative efficiency.

The evaluation process also considers key aspects like recruitment policies, training standards, welfare measures for personnel, and efforts towards gender inclusion within the force.

With this honour, Odisha Police joins a select group of police organisations in India that have been recognised for their consistent dedication and service. Officers of the awarded unit will be entitled to wear a special emblem on the left sleeve of their uniform as a mark of distinction.
