Bhubaneswar: The police have busted a sex racket in Odisha’s Jajpur district and detained five persons, including two women, in this connection.

As per reports, the cops conducted a raid at a house near the main post office in Vyasanagar town of Jajpur on Monday following allegations of an illegal sex racket operating from the premises for a long period.

During the raid, police detained two women suspected to be involved in prostitution and three male customers. Several objectionable items were reportedly seized from the spot, reports added.

According to sources, police had received specific information that a sex racket had been operating from a house near Shabar Sahi Chhak, close to the main post office, for quite some time.

Acting on the directions of the Jajpur Superintendent of Police, a special team of the district police, led by Jajpur Road Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), conducted the raid.

As part of the operation, two police personnel reportedly went to the house in the guise of customers in the evening. Subsequently, the police team conducted a raid on the premises.

During the operation, three young men allegedly managed to escape from the spot. Two women, including the alleged kingpin, and three other men were detained by the police for questioning.

The cops have started an investigation into the alleged racket and are conducting further inquiries to ascertain the involvement of other persons in the operation.
