Three killed, several injured in head-on collision in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: In a saddening incident, at least three people, including a child, were killed and more than five others injured in a mishap on the Bharatmala highway near Badakumari in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district.

According to reports, the accident occurred when two cars collided head-on, leading to severe damage to both vehicles. Two adults and a child died on the spot due to the impact of the crash.

The deceased have been identified as Aruna Panda, Subrat Satpathy and Ashutosh Rath (10) of Sunabeda area in Koraput.

As per resports, Bansidhar Panda, Biswajit Panda, Gajanan Das, Jitendra Saraf, and Swastik Korap sustained injuries in the mishap.

The injured were immediately rushed to the sub-divisional hospital in Umarkote. Critically-injured Bansidhar Panda and Biswaji Panda were later shifted to a hospital at Koraput after their condition deteriorated.  

Preliminary information suggests one of the vehicles was returning from a feast at Chitabeda village in Jharigaon, while the other car was carrying a wedding party travelling from Raighar to Haldi. The collision took place during their journey, resulting in the tragic road mishap.

Local police reached the spot soon after receiving information and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
