Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today reviewed the supply of fuel and other essential commodities in Odisha in the wake of West Asia crisis.
During the virtual review meeting, the Chief Minister talked to the Collectors and asked them to activate the district-level enforcement squads for round-the-clock monitoring of the situation.
Majhi also enquired about the measures initiated by the district administrations for uninterrupted supply of essential commodities. He asked the Collectors to monitor the wholesale as well as retail markets and act against the hoarders and unscrupulous traders.
The Chief Minister put emphasis on the coordinated efforts to manage the situation. He asked the officials to initiate stringent action against rumour mongers and keep tab on social media to tackle misinformation.
“The government has formed state-level as well as district level crisis management groups for proper coordination for the supply of essential commodities in the state,” said the Chief Minister.
He also asked the officials concerned to monitor the availability as well as prices of petrol, diesel, LPG, fertilizer and other essential commodities in the market. Besides, the officials were asked to launch awareness campaigns to allay any apprehension among the people.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Singh gave a detailed presentation regarding the steps taken by the department for steady supply of fuel and other commodities in the state.
