Kendrapada: A headless body of an unidentified woman was recovered from the Luna river embankment under Kudanagari police limits in Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Friday morning.

The body was spotted by residents of Maharakuula village, who noticed it lying on the river embankment early in the morning and informed the police.

Two slippers were also found lying near the body. Bloodstains were visible on the embankment.

Murder suspected

The circumstances in which the body was found have raised suspicion of murder among locals. They suspect that the woman may have been killed and her body dumped on the river embankment.

Police begin investigation

On being informed, Kudanagari police reached the spot and launched an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain further details.

The identity of the deceased woman and the circumstances surrounding her death are yet to be established. Police are investigating the case.
