Bhubaneswar: A youth drowned in Salandi river while allegedly filming reels in Odisha’s Bhadrak district today. 

The deceased has been identified as Mithun Nayak of Turunga village under Bulada panchayat in Keonjhar district. Mithun was working as a daily wager at Bhadrak town for last few days.  

As per reports, Mithun along with two of his friends went to a bridge over Salandi river near Bhadrak town for making reels for social media.

Mithun and his friend Himanshu Nayak jumped into the river while the third youth made live videos.  While Himanshu returned to the shore safely, Mithun went missing in the river, reports said.

The locals rushed to the spot after they came to know about the incident. On being informed, the Fire Brigade personnel reached the spot and fished out Mithun’s body.

The police have seized the body and sent it for postmortem before launching a probe into the incident.
