Low pressure formation: Heavy rainfall alert issued in Odisha for next 4 days

Bhubaneswar: Indian Meteorological Department has issued yellow warning in many parts of Odisha, owing to the likely formation of low pressure over coastal parts of West Bengal around July 26.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur in isolated places of Rayagada, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj till the morning of July 25.

Similarly, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Balasore and Bhadrak may witness such weather conditions between July 25 and July 26.

While heavy to very heavy rainfall will lash Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Deogarh and Sambalpur, intense rainfall will lash parts of Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Gajapati, Ganjam, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nabarangpur, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur between July 26 and July 27.

Furthermore, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir and Bargarh will experience heavy to very heavy rain and parts of Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda and Koraput issued warning of heavy rainfall between July 27 and July 28.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast and northwest adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal on July 27 and July 28. Those in deep sea are advised to return to the coast by July 26.

A cyclonic circulation between 2.1 and 3.6 km above mean sea level, lies over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts, tilting southwest-wards, stated the weather bulletin issued by IMD.
