Masked miscreants pull down bank shutter, loot Rs 14 lakh at gunpoint in Odisha

Jharsuguda: In a daring heist, armed miscreants looted over Rs 14 lakh from a private bank at Belpahar in Jharsuguda district in broad daylight today.

As per reports, around six miscreants came in a numberless SUV wearing masks and stopped before Axis Bank at Gumadera in Belpahar area between 1 PM and 2 PM. Two of them pulled down the bank shutter and waited outside, while four barged inside and opened blank fire.

They later looted over Rs 14 lakh cash by brandishing gun. They also attacked a customer and the manager of the branch and smashed mobiles phones of three customers present inside the bank during the dacoity, sources added.

On receiving information, police led by Jharsuguda SP Ashwini Mohanty along with a scientific team reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident.
