Balasore: Even though a week has passed since a minor boy was allegedly killed inside a dhaba on Baliapal-Basta road in Balasore district, police have failed to nab the accused in the case.

Protesting inaction and monopoly of police, BJP Balasore unit resorted to a 12-hour bandh in Baliapal today affecting normal life in the area. While shops and other business establishments have remained closed, road traffic has been disrupted with vehicles staying off roads due to the protest.

“Police have arrested 13 innocent persons and are protecting the main accused in the murder case. We demand justice for the deceased boy. The culprits should be immediately arrested and the Government extend all facilities for family members of the deceased,” said an activist.

The BJP also demanded immediate release of the 13 persons arrested over attack on the former IIC of Baliapal police station following the minor boy’s death.

Worth mentioning, a minor boy identified as Bijaya Dalai of Bhogarai area, was found hanging from the ceiling of a dhaba he had been working in near IDCO Chhak on Baliapal-Basta road on July 26.

Following the incident, angry locals had thrashed the former IIC of Baliapal police station Prabhukalyan Acharya when he reached the spot for investigation. Balasore SP Jugal Kishor Banoth transferred the IIC to the district police headquarters the next day.
