Bhubaneswar: A special screening of National Award-winning Odia movie ‘Pratikshya’ was held at IIT-Indore recently.

The movie, produced and directed by Anupam Patnaik, was screened at the Gargi Hall of IIT-Indore in Madhya Pradesh on December 15.

This is the first occasion when the special screening of an Odia movie was held at an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), sources said.

At least 95 people, including students and teachers, attended the special screening. The audience praised Odisha’s culture and history on the occasion, sources added.

They also acknowledged the realistic and natural storytelling and applauded the screen performances of Barsha Patnaik, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Jayprakash Das and renowned Odia actor Siddhanta Mahapatra in the movie.

The Odia students at IIT-Indore have pledged their support for similar initiatives in the future.

Pratikshya, written by Rosan Bisoi, is inspired by Gourahari Das’ short story ‘Bapa’. The movie is all about the dreams, desperation and aspirations of a middleclass family.

Notably, Pratikshya had bagged the Best Odia Feature Film Award at the 69th National Film Awards ceremony in New Delhi in October this year.
