CBI chief Praveen Sood’s tenure extended again

Bhubaneswar: The Centre has approved a one-year extension in the tenure of CBI Director Praveen Sood.

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions today issued a notification in this regard. The Centre has granted an extension in the tenure of Sood for the second time.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension in the tenure of CBI Director Praveen Sood for a period of one year on the recommendations of the Selection Committee.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, based on the recommendations of the Selection Committee, has approved the extension in the tenure of Praveen Sood, IPS as Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a period of one year beyond 24.05.2026,” read the notification issued by the Ministry.  

The Union Government had appointed Sood as CBI Director for a two-year term on May 25, 2023. However, he was given a one-year extension in 2025.
