Rourkela: A certificate distribution function was organised at Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan (DISS), the free school for underprivileged children of the Steel Township, set up by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and managed by Deepika Mahila Sanghati (DMS) .

Namrata Verma, President (DMS), graced the occasion as Chief Guest and handed over the certificates to the students. The Guests of Honour present on the occasion were Pravati Misra, Pratigyan Palai, Vandana Singh, Rita Rani, and Nabanita Pal Chowdhury, the Vice-Presidents of DMS. The function was attended by T. G. Kanekar, CGM (TS & CSR), Munmun Mittra, GM In-charge (CSR), T. B. Toppo, AGM (CSR), Sarika Kumar, Secretary (DMS), Governing Body Members of DMS along with S. Samal, Headmistress, S. K. Mishra, School Administrator, Niharika Bhal, Assistant Headmistress and other teachers and staff of the School.  

The pack of certificates included School Leaving Certificates, Conduct Certificates, Migration Certificates, Original Board Certificates and Rajyapal Puraskar Certificates for the year 2023-24 for Scout and Guide students.

Notably, the school achieved a remarkable academic milestone of achieving 100% pass rate for the 10th consecutive year. Out of 86 students who appeared this year in the Class-X Board Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, 26 secured First Division, 31 achieved Second Division, and 29 passed with Third Division.

Subhalaxmi Sahoo topped the school with 521 marks, followed by Suprava Tandi with 501 marks and Srutismita Pattnaik with 497 marks. In grading terms, 5 students secured A2 grade, 7 secured B1 grade, and 14 received B2 grade. 

Established in 2007, Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan has been managed by Deepika Mahila Sanghati, a leading philanthropic organisation of the Steel City. Since its first batch appeared for the board exams in 2016, the school has maintained a consistent 100% pass rate.

The institution offers quality education on par with any standard school in Rourkela, providing free education, uniforms, winter clothing, shoes, bags, clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and healthy lunches prepared by the Akshaya Patra Foundation. New facilities continue to be added to enhance the academic environment and quality of education.
