Rourkela: The Doctor’s day was observed at the Ispat General Hospital of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on today in association with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Rourkela Chapter. 

Dr. J K Acharya, CMO In-Charge was the Chief Guest of the function. Dr. P K Mohapatra, Senior Consultant & former CMO (M&HS) and President, IMA (IGH) and Dr. J R Sahoo, Chief Consultant (IGH) & Secretary, IMA, also shared the dais.  

The event was attended by current and superannuated doctors of IGH, doctors associated with Super Specialty Hospital, DNB Doctors, doctors practicing in and around the steel city and associated with Indian Medical Association (IMA).

The programme commenced with the lighting of ceremonial lamp followed by floral tributes at the portrait of Dr. B C Roy.  

In his address, Dr. Acharya appreciated the selfless service and dedication of doctors, emphasising their vital role in society. He urged the doctors to leverage advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in healthcare to enhance patient care, improve diagnostic accuracy, and stay abreast of evolving medical advancements.

During the function Dr. Sanjeev Mohanty, former Joint Director & Head of Medicine Department, IGH and Dr. Ashish Saha, former Joint Director (Paediatrics), IGH were felicitated for their commendable contributions.

At the outset Dr. P K Mohapatra delivered the welcome address highlighting this years theme “Behind the mask, who heals the healers”.  Dr. J R Sahoo coordinated the function and proposed a formal vote of thanks at the end.
