Rourkela: A two-day symposium of healthcare professionals was held here recently in Odisha's Steel City Rourkela. 

Over 250 participants, including doctors from various specialties and medical students, attended the academic symposium on advanced surgical techniques. 

The event featured live surgeries and hands-on training sessions conducted by renowned experts, including Dr. Kamalakant Panigrahi, Senior Consultant Urologist, Berhampur; Dr. Prasanna Kumar Mishra, Senior Consultant & Transplant Surgeon, Kolkata; Dr. A G Samal, Senior Consultant Laparoscopic & Bariatric Surgeon; Dr. Abhijit Samal, Consultant Urologist, Apollo Hospital and Dr. U C Sahu, Senior Consultant Nephrologist, Apollo Hospital Rourkela. 

Other distinguished speakers included Dr. Amaresh Pattnaik, Urologist; Dr. Debasish Pattnaik, Laparoscopic Surgeon; and Dr. Sakti Swaroop Sarangi, Urologist.

Dr. Prasanna Kumar Mishra highlighted the feasibility of performing kidney transplant surgeries in Rourkela within a short period. Dr. Akhil Jain, COO of Apollo Hospital, assured that the hospital would provide cutting-edge treatment facilities and work towards establishing a transplant program with expertise from various regions.

The symposium was organized in association with the Association of Surgeons of India, Odisha State Chapter, and the Council of Odisha Medical Registration granted 2 CME credit hours to the participants.
