Jajpur: Navnirman Krishak Sangathan (NKS) adviser Soumya Ranjan Patnaik today slammed both Centre and State government for their neglect and apathy towards the farming community.

“Three things-price, pension and prestige. First is price. Providing suitable price to farmers for their produce is the responsibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Second is pension. Providing pension is the responsibility of Naveen Patnaik. The third is prestige. We will earn prestige on our own through identity and strength of our organization,” said Patnaik addressing a massive farmers’ rally organized by NKS at Kianali Chhak in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

“Narendra Modi has to offer suitable price to farmers for their produce and Naveen Patnaik has to provide pension and social security, it has to admit that farmers have committed suicides and express sympathy towards their kin otherwise farmers will obliterate all political parties and form farmers’ party,” warned Patnaik.

The farmers’ outfit has plans to hold similar rallies at Dhenkanal and Nayagarh before holding a massive state-level rally at Bhubaneswar in March to pressurize the government to fulfill its 10-point charter of demands.
