Nilagiri: A shameful incident was reported from Nilagiri area in Balasore district where a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped after being lured with chocolates by a youth and her private parts were mutilated.

The victim was admitted to a hospital in Nilagiri for treatment.

The Nilagiri police launched probe to nab the accused following a written complaint was filed by the victim's family on Saturday.

According to reports, the incident occurred at Hata Sahi under Nilagiri police limits on April 13.

The complaint in the FIR said that the accused Nityachandan Jena alias Jiban (24) had called the girl, the daughter of Sudarshan Jena of Hata Sahi village, to his home alluring her with chocolates while she was playing on the road in front of her house.

Jiban allegedly raped the girl in his home and mutilated her private parts. The victim told everything about the incident to her mother. After her condition deteriorated, the family rushed her to Nilagiri hospital for treatment.

As per the complaint, Sudarshan told about the incident to Jiban's father Rabindra Jena, who initially assured him of paying the medical expenses for treatment of the girl and resolve the matter at a village meeting. Later, the family of the accused threatened the victim’s father to kill him if he discloses it to anyone.

Following the complaint police is investigating the matter.

Further information will be provided after the probe into the incident, said Nilagiri IIC Ramesh Singh.
