Odisha CM greets Muslim community on Eid-Ul-Fitr

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today wished people belonging to Muslim community on holy occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

Taking to microblogging site Twitter, Patnaik greeted for bonding, peace and prosperity on the auspicious occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on US visit, also greeted Muslim brothers of India on Twitter.

After beholding moon last night, the Muslim people ended their 20-30-day long day fasting followed by mass prayers held in various mosques across the State.

Wearing new clothes and hugging each other, the Muslim brothers offered mass namaz (prayer) at mosques in Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Khurda and Berhampur on the occasion of Eid marking end of holy month Ramadan.

The festival was observed with offering sweets, sweet dishes, biryani and varieties of food items to friends, relatives and others after holy prayers in the morning.

The Muslims stay on fast from dawn to dusk everyday for 29-30 days depending on the Islamic calendar. They take food and water after offering prayer in the evening.
