Odisha CM showers praise on Dutee, poses for selfie. Here’s why

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik felicitated star Odia sprinter Dutee Chand at the State Secretariat here today and heaped praise on the young athlete for her inspiring sporting achievements.

The CM congratulated Dutee for wining gold in 100 metre and silver in the 200 metre during the recently concluded 58th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championship in Assam.

Naveen took to Twitter and wrote she has proven to be a true symbol of perseverance by delivering an excellent performance.

“Congratulated @DuteeChand for clinching gold in 100 metre dash at 58th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships. She has proven to be a true symbol of perseverance by outperforming her own national record. Wished her the very best for @asiangames2018,” the CM tweeted.

An elated Dutee requested Naveen for a selfie and he immediately obliged for the click with a smile.

Worth mentioning, the Olympic sprinter had created new national record in 100 metre by clocking 11.29 seconds. With this she also had surpassed her own record that she had set last year with a timing of 11.30 at the Indian Grand Prix, New Delhi.

Dutee has also qualified in both 100 metre and 200 metre race for the upcoming Asian Games to be held from 18th August in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia.
