Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government will appoint 3,000 new doctors to improve healthcare services in the state, said Governor Raghubar Das in the House during his speech on the first day of Odisha Assembly today.

In his address at 17th Legislative Assembly Session that commenced today, the Odisha Governor said that the new government will appoint gynecologists and pediatricians for all the district hospitals, ensuring to meet all requirements of nurses.

He said that the primary health centres (PHCs) will be upgraded to 'Arogya Mandir' across the state. All the PHCs, CHCs and DHHs will have more beds for patients to augment the healthcare system in the state. Each CHC will be connected with a mobile health unit. The government will provide financial assistance to poor patients suffering from diseases like Thalassemia, Anthrax and Sickle cell anemia for their treatment.

In collaboration with the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, the government is targeting to make the state malaria-free by 2030.
