Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a student of private medical college was found hanging in the hostel room here on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Nihar Ranjan Rout, a resident of Soro in Balasore district. He was the third year MBBS student of Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital.

Police recovered his body and sent it to for autopsy. The reason is yet to be ascertained for which Nihar took extreme step to end his life.

A complaint has been lodged by the family members at Mancheswar police station against the college authority alleging murder.

Police launched probe into the incident on basis of the complaint.

The family alleged that Nihar was under pressure by the college that was harassing him mentally and demanding money for compensation as he had secured poor marks in the recently concluded examination.

However, the college authorities refuted the allegations.

Earlier, a similar incident was reported from the Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital. A third year girl student of BSc Nursing had attempted suicide by jumping off hostel building.
