Angul: An eight-year-old girl was found in an unconscious state at a drain near bus stand in Odisha's Angul district today.

The minor girl has been rescued by her family members, with whom she was sleeping at the bus stand last night, and admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Though the reason behind her condition is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that she was raped and then dumped at the drain by a miscreant.

The girl has sustained critical injuries on his face and head, for which it is also being suspected that an attempt was made to kill her.

Police have started investigation into the incident and detained two persons in this connection.
