Odisha: Modular OT Complex inaugurated at Capital Hospital

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated a Modular Operation Theatre Complex at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research & Capital Hospital in the city here.

Inaugurating the Modular OT complex, Patnaik said this state-of-the-art facility a huge step forward for treatment of patients in critical conditions.

The Modular OT Complex has been constructed at a cost of Rs 16.76 crore.

The Modular Operation Theatre Complex is a highly advanced facility with state-of-the-art technology. Various types of surgical procedures can be done safely and efficiently using the new facility, thereby contributing greatly to improved patient care.

There are four operation theatres in this complex which can support eight operations simultaneously. The purpose of a Modular OT is to reduce the incidence of infection to the minimum level, sources said.

Modular OTs will enable the health staff to conduct x-ray and other imaging during the operation. This gives a quick analysis of the patients and provides imagery of the internal organs.

This type of OTs ensure the safety of patients as doctors can easily and quickly handle any complications during operation, said an expert.

Doctors of various specializations can work together on a single patient at Modular OTs. Since a wide variety of procedures can be carried out in the same room, Modular OTs result in cost savings for both the patients and hospital, he added.

Health & Family Welfare Minister Niranjan Pujari, 5T initiative and Ama Odisha Naveen Odisha Chairman VK Pandian, Health department Secretary Shalini Pandit and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
