Odisha: Ravenshaw 2nd campus to function from this month; Mayor takes stock

Bhubaneswar: A team of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) today visited the newly-built second campus of Ravenshaw University in the Silver City.

The team comprising Mayor Subhash Chandra Singh, Deputy Mayor Damayanti Majhi, CMC Commissioner Nikhil Pavan Kalyan and other senior officials took stock of the infrastructure and connectivity to the 2nd campus of the premier educational institute, built on 126 acre land at CDA Sector-13 area of Cuttack.

The CMC will take steps to ensure ‘Mo Bus’ connectivity to the second campus of Ravenshaw. Besides, it will put of sign boards and speed breakers on the road connecting the second campus.

The team also visited Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Cuttack and took stock of the infrastructure and other requirements.

The CMC will undertake plantation on the campuses of the both institutes, sources said.

Ravenshaw University Vice-Chancellor Sanjay K. Nayak had earlier revealed that the second campus of the varsity is almost ready to hold classes from 2023-24 academic year.

The state government and Ravenshaw University Syndicate have given their nod to shift the departments of ITM, IST, JMC and BBA to the second campus of the varsity in the first phase, Nayak said.

However, the classes of ITM and IST will be held at the second campus of the varsity from July this year, Nayak added.

Ravenshaw second campus has all necessary facilities including smart classrooms, special computer rooms, hostels, administrative block, library, health centre, playground, bank, cafeteria and placement cells, said the Vice-Chancellor, said the VC.

“Steps are being taken to hold the classes of all self-financing courses at the second campus of the varsity in the coming days,” he added.
