Odisha rights body gets new chairperson after 7 years

Bhubaneswar: Former Orissa High Court judge Justice B.P. Das has been appointed as the Chairman of Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), official sources said today.

The commission got its chairperson after a span of seven years as the position was lying unoccupied since 2012.

Similarly, advocate Asim Amitabh Dash is the new member of the rights body. The two new appointments have received the approval of Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal.

The post of Chairperson of OHRC was vacant since November 23, 2012. Justice Raghubir Dash had been officiating as the commission’s acting chairman since May 16, 2019.
