Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today issued an order for recruitment of teachers to the vacant posts in government high schools in Odisha.

Acting upon the direction of the Chief Minister, the School and Mass Education department has urged the Odisha Staff Selection Commission to initiate the process for appointment of 7,540 teachers in 4,848 government high schools in the state.

The vacant posts for TGT (Arts), TGT (PCM), TGT (CBZ), Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Telugu and physical education teachers will be filled up during the recruitment drive, sources said.

The state had earlier recruited around 13,000 teachers for the government schools across Odisha in 2021-22 academic year.

Notably, the state government has been strengthening infrastructure in schools through the 5T initiative. Under the school transformation programme, the state government is upgrading classrooms, laboratories, libraries and other basic infrastructure in schools.

The upgraded schools are also getting internet connection and e-library facilities, sources said.
