As pilgrims across the world thronged the holy town of Puri to witness the annual car festival of the trinity today, enthusiastic Odia tweeples trended #RathaJatra top on Twitter. Apart from greeting each other on the holy festival, that witnesses one of the largest congregation of pilgrims along the six km long stretch called Badadanda, trivia and factoids on the grandeur and sheer scale of the festival also started doing rounds early morning.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minisiter Dharmendra Pradhan and several influential twitter users contributed to the potpourri, making it one of the most talked about topics on Twitter.

"Heartfelt greetings on this joyous & most auspicious occasion of #RathaJatra. Jai Jagannath!," Patnaik tweeted

And PM Narendra Modi tweeted: "On the occasion of Rath Yatra, my warmest greetings to you all. May Lord Jagannath continue to shower his blessings on everyone."
