Odisha’s Sudarsan Pattnaik to carve largest sand sculpture of Lord Buddha in Sri Lanka

Bhubaneswar, May 7:

Pride of Odisha and internationally acclaimed sand artist Padma Shri Sudarsan Pattnaik will be carving the largest sand sculpture of Lord Buddha at Colombo during the 14th ‘International Vesak Day’ celebrations in Sri Lanka, sources said.

Pattnaik is all set to leave for Colombo on the invitation of India High Commissioner to Sri Lanka to participate in the ‘International Vesak Day’ celebrations there, sources added.

The internationally acclaimed sand artist intends to create a new record by making the largest sand sculpture of Lord Budha at the five-day-long celebrations which have begun from Friday in the Sri Lankan capital and will close on Wednesday next, sources further added.

It may be recalled here that Pattnaik had won the jury prize gold medal at the recently concluded Moscow Sand Art Championship-2017.
